Joe Eszterhas
József Antal ("Joe") Eszterhas (born November 23, 1944 in Csákánydoroszló , Vas County , Hungary ) is a Hungarian-American screenwriter .
Life
Joe Eszterhas emigrated with his parents from Hungary to the United States after the end of World War II .
While working as an editorial assistant for Rolling Stone magazine , his talent for writing was noticed and he was appointed a reporter - a first step in the direction of Hollywood . There he wrote scripts for Flashdance , with which he became famous, and Basic Instinct , his most successful work, which he sold to Carolco Pictures in 1990 for the record price of three million dollars . Eszterhas was the first screenwriter to ensure that his scripts were not changed after they were submitted.
After many years of alcohol and other drugs , Eszterhas now lives with his second wife and four sons in Bainbridge Township near Cleveland , Ohio, where he writes books. His famous book is Hollywood Animal . For this he was heavily criticized for writing about Hollywood in the style of a investigative journalist.

Joe Eszterhas Awards
After Eszterhas, the negative film award Golden Raspberry is also called "the dishonorable Joe Eszterhas Script Award" in the worst script category . As the only screenwriter to date, he received this dubious award twice: in 1995 for Showgirls and in 1998 for Fahr zum Hölle Hollywood . In addition, his scripts for Flashdance 1983, Sliver 1993 and Jade 1995 were nominated.
In 1996, the Joe Eszterhas Award was presented once for the “worst-written films that grossed more than 100 million US dollars”.
