The rose variety 'Eternal Flame' (syn. 'A Little Ray of Sunshine', 'Deyrolle', 'MEIfacul') is a light yellow, fragrant hybrid tea rose that was bred by Alain Meilland in 2007 and launched on the European market in the same year. In 2014 the rose variety was sold under the name 'A Little Ray of Sunshine' by Corporate Roses Pty. Ltd. brought to the Australian market.

The upright rose 'Eternal Flame' forms a tall, compact shrub . The rose plant is about 90 cm to a maximum of 150 cm high and 60 to 90 cm wide. The rose petals of the 'Eternal Flame' have a classic hybrid tea rose shape and are mostly arranged individually on the shoots that are moderately spiked .

The bright, pale yellow, about 12 cm large, double flowers are formed from about 35 to 40 slightly curved petals that bend slightly outwards in the later flowering stage. In the late flowering stage, the bright yellow- orange stamens become visible in the yellow center of the flower . The rose has shiny, dark green, leathery leaves that contrast sharply with the bright yellow flowers. The rose cultivar 'Eternal Flame' is characterized by a long-lasting, intense scent of lemons from.

This remounting hybrid tea is hardy ( USDA climate zones 6b to 9b). The rose 'Eternal Flame' thrives in well drained, weakly acidic to weakly alkaline soil in preferably sunny locations. The hybrid tea rose 'Eternal Flame' flowers from June to the end of summer and is extremely resistant to the well-known rose diseases.

The rose variety 'Eternal Flame' is ideal as a cut flower . It can also be used to plant flower borders .

The rose variety 'Eternal Flame' is shown in numerous rosaries and gardens around the world, including the International Rose Test Garden (Portland), Rosaholic's Southern California Garden , The Gardens at Witherspoon and the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden .

Naming

The 'Eternal Flame' rose variety, along with the 'World War II Memorial Rose', the 'Bronze Star' and the 'September Mourn', is one of the so-called memorial roses named in honor of those who fought for freedom.
