The Ethnographisch-Archäologische Zeitschrift (EAZ) was an archaeological specialist journal and was published twice a year. She dealt mainly with ethno-archaeological research and results.

history

The ethnographic-archaeological journal was founded in 1960 and was the continuation of the journal Ethnographic-archaeological research published from 1953 to 1959 . It was initially located at the Institute for Prehistory and Early History and at the Institute for Ethnology and German Folklore at the Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1992 to the third issue in 2009 it was published at the Chair of Prehistory and Protohistory at Humboldt University under the responsibility of Johan Callmer and Ruth Struwe . Since the fourth issue of 2009, the EAZ has been published after the Berlin chair at the Chair of Prehistory and Protohistory of the History Department of Leipzig University was closed . Since issue 1/2 2010 the EAZ has been edited by Ulrich Veit and published by Waxmann Verlag . In the course of this, the EAZ received a new layout. In 2018 the magazine was discontinued with the publication of issue 1/2 2015.

Content

The journal focused on articles on ethnoarchaeological research and results. An important concern was the interdisciplinary research in the areas of prehistory and early history ( prehistoric and medieval archeology ) as well as ethnology , ethnography and anthropology . However, articles were also printed exclusively from the individual areas. Connections to neighboring social, humanities and natural science disciplines were also maintained.

The magazine was published every six months. There were essays, discussions (especially on theoretical questions), author presentations of dissertations , communications (preferably meeting on interdisciplinary applied congresses ) as well as reviews and annotations printed. The language of publication was German, summaries were given in German, English and Russian.
