The Etivluk River is a 90 km long right tributary of the Colville River in northern Alaska .

It rises from Nigtun Lake in the Howard Hills , a promontory of the Brooks Range , flows in a north-northeast direction and flows 21 km east of the Ipnavik River into the Colville River , which flows through the North Slope to the Arctic Ocean . The Etivluk River is one of many rivers and streams that feed the Colville River from the Brooks range north of the continental divide .

A bend in the river, around 15 miles before it flows into the Colville River, is considered the most remote place in Alaska in terms of the nearest settlements: Ambler (to the southwest) and Atqasuk (to the north) are each just under 200 km away.

The name of the river was first documented on April 21, 1886 by Ensign Howard of the United States Navy on an expedition from Fort Cosmos on the Kobuk River to Point Barrow .
