Eucharius Weiner

Eucharius Weiner OSB (born February 24, 1634 in Kissingen , Lower Franconia , † April 11, 1701 in Würzburg ) was a German Benedictine abbot .

Life

From 1667 until his death in 1701 Weiner was abbot of the Benedictine monastery of St. Stephan in Würzburg, rector of the University of Würzburg , prelate and sponsor of the monastery library.

In 1677 he also became Abbot of Banz . He and his successor as Abbot Kilian Düring were the ones who commissioned the builder Leonhard Dientzenhofer (1660–1707) after the Thirty Years' War , and after his death his brother Johann Dientzenhofer (1663–1726) to rebuild the Banz monastery. Construction work on the monastery began in 1698. In 1700 he was also the administrator of the Schottenkloster in Würzburg .
