Eugène Bonnemère
Joseph-Eugène Bonnemère (born February 20, 1813 in Saumur , † November 3, 1893 in Louerre ( Maine-et-Loire )) was a French historian and writer .
Life
Joseph-Eugène Bonnemère, grandson of the Maire von Saumur, Joseph Toussaint Bonnemère (1746–1794), first appeared as a poet by having the Vaudeville Les Premiers flacres (1841) and the fairy play Micromégas performed at the Théâtre du Panthéon in Paris . But he soon gave up this career and devoted himself to political and social studies. He worked for the Démocratie pacifique , the Revue de Paris and was editor-in-chief of the Précurseur de l'Ouest in Angers for five years , after which he returned to Paris in 1849.
As a cultural historian, Bonnemère wrote some valuable writings, some of which were awarded by the Académie Française , such as Les Paysans au dix-neuvième siècle (Nantes 1845), Histoire de l'association agricole et solution pratique (Nantes 1849), Histoire des Paysans 1200- 1850 (2 vols., Paris 1856; 4th edition 1886) and La France sons Louis XIV (2 vols., Paris 1864–65; 3rd edition 1889), in which he continues than his French predecessors to the sources of the size and des The misery of that "golden age" of the old French monarchy prevailed. From 1858 he wrote a series of letters to the Russian newspaper Russki Westnik ( Russischer Bote ) about the current situation of farmers and agriculture in France, which caused a sensation.
