from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Siméon Eugène Thivier (born October 11, 1845 in Paris , † December 27, 1920 there ) was a French sculptor .

Life

His artistic ambitions found little approval in Thivier's family. Against their resistance he became a private student of Albert Besnard (1849-1934) and Charlotte Gabrielle Dubray (1855-1930); Also Augustin-Alexandre Dumont (1801-1884) taught him sculpture. In addition, Pierre Loison (1816–1886) is named as his teacher.

Thivier made allegories of happiness and love in a neoclassical style, where he was close to symbolism . He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1865 and became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1887 . Here he received an award in 1887 and a bronze medal in 1892 and 1900.

Eugène Thivier was the brother of the academic painter Émile Louis Thivier (1858-1922).
