Eugène Dominique de Dietrich (born October 9, 1844 in Niederbronn ; † January 28, 1918 there ) was an industrialist and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Eugène de Dietrich came from the Protestant industrial dynasty de Dietrich in Alsace. He attended high school in Strasbourg , the Polytechnic in Karlsruhe and the Forest Academy in Tharandt . During his studies he joined the student union Corps Bavaria Karlsruhe in 1864 .

Eugène founded the De Dietrich automobile company in 1897 . In 1901 he signed a contract with the designer Ettore Bugatti to manufacture more modern models based on his designs. These models are also called De Dietrich-Bugatti . Also in 1901 he was one of the co-founders of the Association of German Motor Vehicle Industrialists .

From 1881 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen 10 ( Hagenau , Weißenburg ) and the Alsatian protest party.
