Eugénie Heger-Gasser
Eugénie Heger-Gasser (born December 18, 1861 in Freiberg , Neu Titschein district in Moravia , † unknown) was an Austrian academic portrait painter .
Life
Eugénie Heger was born as the daughter of Antonia and Albert Heger, district officials in Freiberg. She attended the arts and crafts school at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Siegmund L'Allemand , as well as at the painting school of Ludwig Minnigerode of the Austrian museum. She also studied at the art schools in Paris, Berlin, Dresden and Munich and enjoyed training in Italian and Dutch master galleries. In 1894 she married the arms manufacturer Johann Gasser (1847-1896) in Vienna, with whom she had a daughter, Eugénie Gasser (* 1895). In 1918 she married Baron Alfred von Catinelli. Johann Gasser owned an arms factory in Ottakring and a soft iron foundry in St. Pölten . Both places were also the residential addresses of the couple, which is why the well-known painter was also gladly seen by the St. Pölten people as a St. Pölten woman. After Johann Gasser's death, Eugénie Heger-Gasser married the Imperial and Royal Captain Count Karl Berchtold (1862–1915) in 1906 and then took the name Countess Eugénie Berchtold Freiin von und zu Ungarschütz, Frätting and Püllitz. Countess Eugénie Berchtold had an address in Vienna until 1914. In 1918 she was mentioned in various newspapers at the wedding of her daughter, then her trace is lost.
