Eugen Fahrländer

Eugen Fahrländer (born August 5, 1844 in Aarau ; † December 24, 1917 there ) was a Swiss engineer and high corps commander .

Life

Eugen Fahrländer, son of the doctor Adolf Fahrländer, acquired in 1862 at the Cantonal School Aarau the Matura . From October 1862 to August 1864 he studied engineering at the Zurich Polytechnic , where he joined the Corps Helvetia . He then switched to the Technical University of Karlsruhe , where he completed his studies as a qualified engineer .

Fahrländer worked in the Federal Topographical Bureau in Bern. At the same time he started an officer career in the Swiss Army . In 1874 he was promoted to major and in 1885 to colonel . From 1875 to 1887 he was a general staff officer . From 1888 to 1891 he commanded the 16th Infantry Brigade and from 1891 to 1898 the 8th Division . From 1898 to 1909 he was a secondary corps commander of the 2nd Army Corps .

Eugen Fahrländer was a grandson of Sebastian Fahrländer , a nephew of Karl Emanuel Fahrländer and a cousin of Karl Franz Sebastian Fahrländer . He was married to Betty Johannes, daughter of Heinrich Johannes from Bremen .
