Eugene Kutschera

Eugen Kutschera (born January 10, 1852 in Brno , † February 9, 1918 in Aarau ) was a Czech composer , conductor , teacher and music director .

Life

Kutschera graduated from high school in Brno and studied music at the Prague Conservatory. After completing his studies, Kutschera traveled to Linz , Brno , Graz , Gdansk , Vienna and Basel as a conductor , until he finally took up a permanent position as music director in Aarau in 1892 at the teachers' seminar (now the Neue Kantonsschule Aarau ). Eugen Kutschera initially took on a position as a piano teacher and from 1905 also worked as a singing teacher. He stayed in these positions in Aarau for the last 25 years of his life.

In addition to his work as a teacher, Kutschera composed several works, but without financial success. He contributed pieces to the centenary celebrations in the canton of Aargau and was the conductor of the Aarauer Cäcilienverein. He also wrote musical articles for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung .

Kutschera died unexpectedly of a stroke on February 9, 1918 in Aarau.
