Eugenio Cavadini (born August 28, 1881 in Morbio Inferiore ; died June 12, 1962 in Locarno ) was a Swiss architect . From 1933 he ran a joint office with his son Agostino Cavadini .

Life

Cavadini studied at the Burgdorf Technical Center . In his mid-twenties he was the city architect of Locarno from 1907 to 1912, and from 1912 to 1922 he was director of the Società Immobiliare Locarno . As such, he had a decisive influence on the development of the Nouvo district. The municipal slaughterhouse and the outstanding example of Liberty style in Locarno, the Villa Emilia, both date from 1911. Cavadini built public buildings throughout the canton and also in Italy: churches, the largest probably planned in 1918 with Eduardo Collamari , but only in 1958 completed pilgrimage church of the Madonna del Sangue in Roman-Byzantine historicism, hospitals such as the district hospital of Cevio (1922), but also residential buildings and factories.

After the son's entry, the formal language of the office changed to a rationalism with an Italian character. Examples of this are the Clinica San Rocco in Lugano (1935) and the Carmelo health resort in Brione sopra Minusio from the same year, the expansion of the Locarno district hospital (1937) and the Sante Croce retirement home in Faido (around 1935).
