The Bern University of Applied Sciences ( BFH ; French Haute école spécialisée bernoise , English Bern University of Applied Sciences ) is an application-oriented university, which was founded in the 1997th It consists of seven departments as well as the Federal University for Sport Magglingen EHSM, which is affiliated with BFH.

Locations

BFH is currently spread across 26 locations in the cities of Bern, Biel, Burgdorf, Magglingen and Zollikofen. In 2012, the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern decided to concentrate the departments of architecture, wood and construction as well as technology and IT on one campus in Biel. The commissioning of the Biel / Bienne campus is planned for autumn 2023. A concentration of the departments of health, social work, economics and the Bern University of the Arts on a common campus in Bern is planned for autumn 2026.

In addition to bachelor and master courses , the BFH offers further training, applied research and development and services.

The degree courses in sport, agronomy, forest sciences, wood technology, automotive technology, nutrition and dietetics as well as literary writing and medical informatics are unique in German-speaking Switzerland or even in Switzerland.
