Reactions

In 2015, the Metropolitan Community Clinic in the Athens suburb of Elliniko was to receive the award. This is a self-organized group of 300 volunteers who provide free medical help and medication for people who are otherwise completely cut off from medical care in Greece. She rejected the award on the grounds that it was cynical to first cause poverty, hunger and the destruction of the health system and then to distribute prizes to those who try to alleviate the hardship in the country through donations and volunteer work.
