Doris Pack
Doris Pack b. Schmitt (born March 18, 1942 in Schiffweiler ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 2014 .
From 2009 to 2014 she was chair of the committee for culture and education in the European Parliament , which is also responsible for youth, media and sport, and a member of the Southeast European delegation , which she headed until 2009.
She also chaired the Conference of Committee Chairs from March to July 2014 , which works with the Bureau of the European Parliament .
Doris Pack was a member of the Executive Committee of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
She is President of the Women's Association of the European People's Party and is a member of the EPP Executive Committee.
Life
After her state examination in education in 1965, Pack worked as a primary and secondary school teacher until 1974 . From 1967 to 1974 she was a member of the municipal council of Bübingen for the CDU , then until 1976 in the city council of Saarbrücken . From 1974 to 1983 and again from 1985 to 1989 she was a member of the Bundestag , from 1981 to 1983 and from 1985 to 1989 she was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Western European Union . From 1983 to 1985 she worked as rector in the Saarland Ministry of Culture.
In the European elections in 1989 Doris Pack was elected to the European Parliament for the first time , where she joined the group of the European People's Party (EPP), to which the CDU belongs. Until 2014 she was a member of the delegation for relations with the states of Southeast Europe (former Yugoslavia delegation). From 1992 to 2009 Pack was the coordinator of the EPP Group in the Committee on Culture and Education before taking over its chairmanship.
Her work focuses on education, cultural and youth policy as well as relations with the countries of the Western Balkans. For Bosnia-Herzegovina, Pack was the EU Parliament's permanent rapporteur. She was rapporteur and negotiator for the European Parliament for the Erasmus + program .
In 2014 she finished her work in the European Parliament .

- Doris Pack is Chair of the Advisory Board of the A Soul for Europe initiative , Chair of the Foundation for Franco-German Cultural Cooperation and the European Children's and Youth Book Fair .
- Pack is also president of the Saar Adult Education Association , former member of the ZDF television council, deputy chairwoman of the European Academy Otzenhausen and chairwoman of the advisory board of the VERN business school in Zagreb.
- In 2014 she was appointed coordinator of the LUX film award by the Presidium of the European Parliament .
- Doris Pack is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for European Partnerships and International Cooperation (IPZ) in Hürth
- She is also President of the Robert Schuman Institute in Budapest.
- Doris Pack has been Secretary General of the Franco-German Cultural Council since 2015 .
