The Europahütte is a Swiss mountain hut on the west side of the Mischabel massif . It is located above Randa and below the cathedral at an altitude of 2265 m above sea level. M. The amount is often with 2220 m erroneous, on the signs at the cottage and on its website.
location
The Europahütte is located on the Europaweg shortly before its intersection with the ascent path to the Domhütte and is an important base on this high-altitude hiking trail. It was built from 1998 to 1999 and belongs to the municipality of Randa. It is only managed in summer and has no winter room .
Ascent
The direct ascent is from Randa ( 1439 m ) over the Lärchberg in 2 ¼ hours.
Höhenweg
The Europaweg has been signposted since 2008 as the second and third stages of route 27 "Swiss Tour Monte Rosa" from Grächen to Zermatt by Swiss hiking trails . The first stage corresponds to the former Saas Fee - Hannigalp high-altitude trail, with a descent to Grächen.
The third stage between Täschalp and Tuferten was closed due to a rock fall with the destruction of the Europa Bridge (Randa) . The Charles Kuonen suspension bridge was opened in July 2017 .
Mountain tours and transition to other huts
A steep ascent leads southeast to the Domhütte ( 2940 m ), from there you can climb the peaks of the Mischabel massif.
From the Europahütte the Europaweg leads in a northerly direction via Gasenried to Grächen , before Gasenried and the ridge at Mittelberg at 2562 m above sea level. M. take the junction to the Bordierhütte ( 2886 m ).
The Europaweg leads south to Zermatt . Here the Europaweg crosses the path from Täsch to the Täschhütte ( 2701 m ).
