The European Quarter in Luxembourg is located on the Kirchberg Plateau in Luxembourg City .

The city of Luxembourg is the birthplace of Robert Schuman , who in 1950 presented his idea of ​​an economic and political community of European peoples. This led to the establishment of the European Communities . The founding assembly of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) also took place in Luxembourg, chaired by Jean Monnet . Some of the institutions of today's European Union have been based in Luxembourg since 1952 .
