The places in the games are distributed in such a way that each of the four players on a team sits once in each position, i.e. once each starting player, 2nd, 3rd and 4th player. Each team plays each game once in each position, and no one else ever plays against another from the same country. The points for the tournament are distributed based on the placement in a game.
- 1st place = 5 points
- 2nd place = 3 points
- 3rd place = 2 points
- 4th place = 1 point
If there are tied players, the points will be added and divided. For example, if there is a clear first and a clear fourth place, the other two receive (3 + 2) / 2 = 2.5 points each.
Intergame: Forerunner of the European Championship Boardgames
From 1988 to 1998, European board game championships were held as intergame . Here German teams were successful four times, Austria and the United Kingdom each three times and a team from the Netherlands once.
