German team championship in the board game
The German Board Game Team Championship ( DMMIB ) has been held annually since 1984. From 1984 to 1987 the championship was organized by Sven Kübler and the Friedhelm Merz Verlag in the adult education center in Essen as part of the Essener Spieletage . In 1988 Friedhelm Merz Verlag decided to organize a European championship, which was held as an intergame from 1988 to 1998 . In 1988 and 1989 the Intergame was carried out by Peter Janshoff from the Herne Games Center; from 1990 onwards, German championships were held again by Peter Janshoff at the Herner Spielewahnsinn in Herne . While teams were initially able to qualify through puzzles, since 1991 qualification tournaments have been held in various (initially 10, now 16) German cities. From 2001 to 2019 there was also the opportunity to qualify for the German championship via an online tournament at the Brettspielwelt . Since 2018 Peter Janshoff has been organizing the German team championship in the board game in cooperation with the youth center “Alte Feuerwache” in Bad Nauheim .
Championships
Teams consisting of four players (and a maximum of two substitutes) always take part in the championship. A predefined game is played on this from four different categories , which must be played by all four team members.
The places in the games are distributed in such a way that each player sits once in each position, i.e. once is the start player, 2nd, 3rd and 4th player and each team plays each game once in each position, and nobody else plays against another from the same team. The points for the tournament are distributed based on the placement in a game.
- 1st place = 5 points
- 2nd place = 3 points
- 3rd place = 2 points
- 4th place = 1 point
In the event of a tie, the points of both places are added and divided by 2. Is there e.g. B. a clear first and a clear fourth place, the other two get (3 + 2) / 2 = 2.5 points each.
The first three teams in the German Championship can then also take part in the European Championship Boardgames .

Games
The games for the final tournament are determined and provided by the organizer.
qualification
Until 1990, teams with solved puzzles could qualify. Since 1991 regional qualifications (RegVor) have always been held at the end of February. 32 teams are currently qualifying from the 16 preliminary rounds. In addition, the teams in places 1 to 4 of last year's DM are qualified.
Since 2006, the games of the preliminary decisions are determined by a vote on the Internet, whereby the game center makes the final decision in individual cases, if z. For example, no meaningful tournament rules can be established for a selected game, as in 2007 in the case of Munchkin . The organizer also ensures that the four games come from different publishers. The games were previously selected by the organizers and participants in the regional preliminary rounds.
Participants must bring their games to the regional preliminary rounds.

Individual evidence
- ↑ In 1984 and 1985 a different evaluation mode was used, the scores can no longer be compared with those of later years.
- ↑ In 2011, the 4th tournament game was no longer played due to lack of time. The points of this tournament result from the sum of three instead of the usual four individual results.
