Der Goldene Pöppel 1989: 2nd place

Café International by Rudi Hoffmann is a board game for two to four players. It works like a puzzle game and received the game award game of the year in 1989 . It was published in 1989 by Mattel , in 1998 by Relaxx and after Relaxx went bankrupt in 1999 by Amigo . The game also appeared as Tactix on the Indian Mattel label Leo Toys .

content

In addition to the instructions and the game plan, the content of the version by Mattel, first published in 1989, consists of:

  • 100 guest cards, including 48 women and 48 men from twelve nations
  • four jokers : two women and two men that can be used anywhere
  • Point chips
  • game schedule

principle

The principle of this placement game consists in placing tiles, which guests of different nationalities show, on the tables of a café . Care must be taken to ensure a balanced gender ratio and individual nationalities. Those who complete a table receive points for it. The seating arrangements at Café International require that four people, two women and two men, be allowed to sit at each table. A new table is only opened when a couple takes a seat at it. If a tile can no longer be placed, it is placed at the bar and the player receives minus points.

variants

In 2001 Amigo released a card game with the same gameplay under the name Café International - Das Kartenspiel . In addition to Rudi Hoffmann, Relaxx founder Roland Siegers also worked on the implementation . The game board is replaced by cards that symbolize tables.

2007 was published by Amigo Café International Junior .
