Colt Express is a board game by Christophe Raimbault that was published by Ludonaute Verlag in 2014 and received the 2015 critics' awards Game of the Year and As d'Or . The theme of the game is a train robbery in the Wild West. Instead of playing on a board, the game is played in and on a three-dimensional train.
content
The Colt Express “ game board ” is not a flat board, but a three-dimensional train with a locomotive and wagons , the number of which depends on the number of players. The travelers on this train, who are not shown in the game, carry various objects of value ( money bags and rubies ) with them. A marshal with a suitcase (s) accompanies the train. The players are bandits who ambush the train.
At the beginning of the game, tiles representing the valuables are distributed to the individual wagons. Each player receives a token that is placed in a carriage. A token for the Marshall and a token for the money case are placed in the locomotive. In addition, each player receives a number of action cards.
The bandits can move from car to car, jump on the roof, hit each other, shoot at each other and, above all, pick up valuables or take away from each other. However, only those actions can be carried out for which the player has an action card. The goal is to loot most of the valuables and become a top bandit. Extra points ($ 1000) are awarded to those who have used the most cartridges.
The game runs in five rounds. At the beginning of each round, the players take turns programming their moves using their action cards, starting with the action that will be dealt with later as the last. These programmed actions are then carried out in sequence. Since everyone has to plan their move from the end (which sometimes fails quite a bit) and individual action cards are played face down and the corresponding actions are thus unknown to the other players, unexpected twists and turns occur.
