Euroscience Open Forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) is a pan-European science conference . It is organized by the grass-roots organization Euroscience and sees itself as a showcase for European science. The model was the American AAAS conferences. ESOF has been held every two years since 2004. One of the stated aims is to bring science and society together and to reflect on developments in science policy. The forums usually last five days. In 2012 around 5,000 people took part, including five Nobel Prize winners. Around 500 speakers organized around 120 sessions.

ESOF distinguishes itself by the fact that in addition to the scientific program with "Science in the City", a festival always takes place in the host city. A "Career Program" supports young scientists in professional matters. During the conference, research institutions and companies present themselves in a trade fair area.
