The EurothermenResort Bad Ischl is a thermal bath and hotel complex in Bad Ischl in Upper Austria .

history

Brine baths have been administered in Bad Ischl since 1823 and this is where today's Eurotherme Bad Ischl originated . In the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century there were around 15 health resorts in the city, which were to be replaced by a central health resort at the end of the First World War. In the spring of 1929, the municipality then started building the building complex. A short time later, the state of Upper Austria took over the further construction management as well as the operation of the state spa. On June 28, 1931, the Kurmittelhaus was officially opened by the Federal President Wilhelm Miklas . The construction of the Kurmittelhaus thus forms the structural basis for today's Eurotherme Bad Ischl .

The extensions in 1952 and 1968 added an inhalation tract and a hydrotherapy tract. In 1976, the foundation stone was laid in the immediate vicinity for a four-star establishment with 112 rooms. Originally called a spa hotel, it is now called the Hotel Royal and is connected to the spa center by an underground corridor, which was also laid out in 1976. In 1994 the name Landeskuranstalt was officially replaced by Kaiser Therme . On January 1, 2002, the spa business was outsourced from the state administration and, together with the hotel, it was incorporated into a GmbH.

In July 2008 a new opening took place after a major renovation. At the same time as the modernization of the thermal bath, which cost around 32 million euros, a new center underground car park was built for around 8.3 million euros. The redesign of the station forecourt cost 1.3 million euros.

Also in 2008, the name EurothermenResort Bad Ischl and the additional name Salzkammergut Therme were introduced for the spa complex and today's Hotel Royal .

The Kurmittelhaus is a listed building .

The General Director of Eurothermen Resorts was Markus Achleitner , and Thomas Prenneis succeeded him in this role on December 1, 2018.
