Shrine
Object ID:  115831

Location
KG: Ahorn
The red limestone tabernacle shrine is a few meters behind the Kalvarienbergkirche , the current location is dated 1915. This or an almost identical wayside shrine can already be seen in a picture from around 1850, but at that time a few meters in front of the church, where the sacristan's house now stands. In 1999 a renovation took place. The small monument has a hulking lattice in front of the tabernacle niche, in which there is a Christ head painted on sheet metal. The crowning stone cross has long been lost. The inscription on the wide base is difficult to decipher, and people passing by are asked to pray. A very similar wayside shrine (with the inscription 1906) stands in front of the state rest home on Ahornstrasse.

On September 25, 1937, the demolition of the old Huemer smithy began and the new rectory was built on the property. The building plans for the rectory came from the Ischl architect Franz Windhager . Today's parsonage is located directly next to the parish church of St. Nicholas. The old parsonage, which was used until 1937, was located in today's "pawn shop" next to the savings bank. The business premises located between the new parsonage and the credit institute, on the south side of the wall of the church square, were built from 1954.

The post and telegraph office is a magnificent building designed in the style of historicism . The facade is reminiscent of the Bad Ischl Kurhaus, which was built twenty years earlier and which can also be assigned to historicism. The construction was done by a Viennese construction company, and the post office started operating in 1895. Before that, the post office was rented in part of the Hotel Post. The outside area has remained essentially unchanged, and several conversions have been carried out inside.

The Auböckhaus on Auböckplatz is one of the oldest houses in Ischl. It is believed that in earlier centuries it was a farmhouse in the midst of its land. The Auböck family is documented as the owner from 1800, the previous owners can no longer be fully identified. The poet Nikolaus Lenau spent the summers from 1838 to 1841 as a guest in this building. Architecturally, it is striking that it has a protruding left pediment , but no right pediment.

Brine baths have been administered in Bad Ischl since 1823. After the end of the First World War, a central spa house was to replace the 15 spa facilities that had existed up to that point. In the spring of 1929, the municipality started construction at the current location in Bahnhofstrasse, and shortly afterwards the state of Upper Austria took over the further construction management and later also the operation. The opening ceremony took place on June 28, 1931 in the presence of Federal President Miklas . In 1952 (inhalation tract) and 1968 (hydrotherapy tract) the facility was expanded, and since 1976 there has been an underground connection to the spa hotel ("Hotel Royal") built in the same year. From the 1990s onwards, the building complex no longer operated under the state spa, but under the name of "Kaiser Therme Bad Ischl". Since 2008 it has appeared under the name EurothermenResort Bad Ischl and the additional name "Salzkammergut Therme".

In addition to the Archbishop of Olomouc , several members of the imperial family attended the inauguration on August 22, 1840 . In the course of the construction of the Kurmittelhaus (1931) the monument was removed and erected again after the new street level had been created. A new capsule has been in the foundation stone since December 5, 1932, which contains, among other things, the name of Federal President Miklas . The original framing of the monument with chains was removed from the metal collection during the war.

As a result of the redesign of the street that took place this year, the war memorial site was relocated to the southwest corner of Rudolfspark, opposite the post and telegraph office (also listed).

The house was built according to plans by Heinz Karbus . The ceramic mosaic, which extends from floor to ceiling, comes from the Ischl sculptor Hannes Haslecker and shows the historical development of the seaside resort of Ischl. Since 2008, the spa administration has no longer been located in the pavilion in Bahnhofstrasse, but in the drinking hall, which is also a listed building . The old spa directorate was sold after a municipal council resolution from 2009.

A music pavilion on the banks of the Traun can already be proven in photos from around 1863, the current building was built in 1883, after the floods of 1897 and 1920 it was changed and simplified. Music performances have not been held for decades, and the building was used as a gallery at times. The wooden structure with a flat half-dome protrudes over the bank wall of the Traun. The monument was originally completely open to the esplanade, apart from the balustrade. In the course of time, the once abundant architectural jewelry was greatly reduced.

Since 1909 the sculpture has stood right at the beginning of the esplanade in the immediate vicinity of Hahnbaum. The inscription on the plinth was also made in 1909. A high pedestal made of (probably) Schwarzensee marble and a pewter statue of a woman in ancient clothing rises on the base . The saying on the pedestal comes from Wirer himself.

The cast iron figure has a cross and a star nimbus. On the previous bridge, which was destroyed by the flood in 1897, there was also a statue of Nepomuk from 1867, which was lost when the bridge collapsed at that time.

As early as 1723 there was a chapel with a statue of John near the bridge in Götzstraße. In 1897 the chapel was demolished and the statue was placed under a tin roof. In the 1950s the figure of the saint disappeared, the empty base remained until 1982. In that year the base was moved to the right bridgehead and equipped with a new statue of a saint, which however fell victim to an act of vandalism in 2008. The current statue is an old cast iron figure, believed to date from the 1840s.

The winch bridge is already listed on a painting of the market in Lauffen from 1630, but it is probably much older. The name is derived from the cable winches that were needed for inland shipping on the Traun at the rapids of the "Wild Lauffen" in order to pull the ships upstream (towards Goisern and Hallstatt) across the rapids. The footbridge served as a connection between the old brewery and the winemaker's house. The footbridge is still in use today. The existence of a winch at this point (Wynde am Lawfenstain) was first mentioned around 1390.

The shooting range in Lauffen (sometimes also: shooting range) is located on the ascent to Lauffnerhöhe. It is the only open fire-shooting range in Austria, the history of which goes back centuries. The construction of the first plant was approved by Emperor Leopold I in 1665 . The Salzamt took over a large part of the construction costs. Since then, the annual Leopoldi shooting has taken place almost without interruption. Inside the shooting range there are around 200 old shooting targets from the 18th to 20th centuries, which reflect the local chronology.

Until the relocation, the cemetery was in the center of the (today's) parish church. In 1714 the license to “read mass” was granted, in the same year a bell was cast for the small bell tower. This bell, which is over 300 years old, is still in service. In 2014 the small tower was restored and rebuilt. The tower cross was solemnly celebrated.
