Eva Leipprand

Eva Leipprand (* 1947 in Erlangen ) is a German politician , translator and writer .

Life

Eva Leipprand was born in 1947 as the daughter of the Protestant regional bishop and later EKD council chairman Hermann Dietzfelbinger . Growing up in Munich, she studied English and history in Würzburg and Munich and then took up teaching at high schools in Stuttgart for a few years.

Eva Leipprand has lived in Augsburg since 1989.

Working as an author

In 1989 Leipprand began writing reviews and presented her first book publication. During this time she was a freelancer for the literary magazine "Flugasche". She worked as an author and literary critic a. a. for Deutschlandradio , BR and SWR as well as for several large, national newspapers. Her literary work also included translations from English.

At Irseer Pegasus she was a co-initiator and moderated the authors' meeting.

From 2015 to 2019 she was federal chairwoman of the Association of German Writers (VS).

She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .

Working as a politician

At her residence in Augsburg , Leipprand was involved in citizens 'initiatives and was chairwoman of the Forum Augsburg Lebenswert association from 1994 to 2002 , an umbrella organization of citizens' initiatives and environmental groups.

From 1996 to 2002 she was Augsburg city councilor for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, responsible for culture and the environment. In the city council, Eva Leipprand was primarily committed to urban development and the cultural identity of her city. In the local election campaign in 2002, she ran as mayor candidate for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was third mayor and cultural advisor of the city of Augsburg from May 2002 to April 2008. After the change of government in May 2008, Leipprand was elected city councilor and first deputy group leader of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was a member of the building committee. After she was only ranked 9th on the candidate list, but only seven Greens were elected to the city council, Eva Leipprand declared her exit from politics in April 2013. Nevertheless, she repeatedly spoke out politically via the platform of the Greens. On November 27, 2018 came as Leipprand Nachrückerin for the Bavarian Parliament exchanged faction members Stephanie Schuhknecht and Cemal Bozoglu in the Augsburg city council back and remains there for the rest of the election period to 30 April 2020th

In 2004 she became a member of the state working group for culture of the Bavarian Greens and of the federal working group of the Greens, spokeswoman for culture. She also joined the board of trustees of the Petra Kelly Foundation and GrünKom and has been a member of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e. V. (Bonn) .
