Evaldas Girdauskas

Evaldas Girdauskas (born March 6, 1978 in Sakiai , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian and German cardiac surgeon and professor .

Life

After graduating from high school, Girdauskas studied medicine at the Kaunas Medical University in Kaunas from 1996 to 2002 . From 2003 to 2008 he worked as an assistant doctor at the Heart Center Leipzig (the Helios clinics ). From 2008 he was a consultant at the Central Clinic Bad Berka . In 2009 he received his doctorate for his dissertation with the title “Results of the surgical treatment of acute type A dissection in the Leipzig Heart Center from 1995 to 2007” at the University of Leipzig . In 2013 he received his habilitation for his thesis "Analysis of aortic changes in patients with bicuspid aortic valve and associated diseases".

Since 2016 he has been the managing senior physician and deputy clinic director (cardiac surgery) at the University Heart Center Hamburg of the University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf . Since March 2017 he has been professor of heart valve reconstruction and treatment of patients with aortopathies . He is the head of the program for (minimally invasive) heart valve reconstruction and treatment of aortopathies.
