Oberholzklau Church (2016)

The Evangelical Reformed Church is a listed church building in Oberholzklau , a district of Freudenberg in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

History and architecture

A courtyard with a chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1147. The church, which was consecrated to Saints George and Bartholomew , is a small late Romanesque hall of two yokes . The vaults are supported by strong square pillars. In the Gothic period a choir was added and the central nave was raised accordingly in order to achieve a harmonious overall impression. From 1908 to 1910 a third yoke was added to the west, and a new west tower was also built during this time.

Interior (2017)

A late Romanesque mural depicting the raising of the young man from Nain from the first quarter of the 13th century was heavily renewed during restoration work.
