The Evangelical Church in rows , a district of the large district town of Sinsheim in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg , was built on the site of the original parish church in 1842 according to plans by Christoph Arnold .

history

In 1496 a church of St. Mary was mentioned in a document. This was replaced by a new Gothic building in 1521 . The Gothic church seems to have been expanded and rebuilt several times. Its bell tower, standing separately, was dated 1571, and in 1737 the nave was completely or partially replaced. In 1839 the church had considerable structural defects, so that it was demolished in 1842 and the current classicist church was built and consecrated in 1843 .

Bells

The old evangelical reformed church originally had only one bell, which was cast around in 1713 by Georg Christoph Weyer in Heidelberg. In 1728 a second bell, cast by Johann Daniel Rohr in Heilbronn , weighing 174 kg, was added. Both bells were cast in 1778 by Anselm Franz Speck in Heidelberg to make new bells weighing 190 kg and 100 kg respectively. In 1821 the church received a third bell, which was also cast by Speck in Heidelberg in 1774 and previously hung in rows in the Lutheran church. During the First World War , the two largest bells had to be delivered for armament purposes, so that only the bell from 1774 remained in the church. In 1920 the church received a second bell again. This was cast at the Bachert bell foundry in Karlsruhe , had the striking note c '', a diameter of 69 cm and a weight of 157 kg. In the following year the historic bell from 1774 cracked and was cast at Bachert in Karlsruhe. The new bell had the strike tone dis '', a diameter of 69 cm and a weight of 120 kg. Finally, in 1922, another bell from Bachert in Karlsruhe completed the chime to form a triad. The bell from 1922 had a c sharp '' strike, a diameter of 84 cm and a weight of 300 kg. During the Second World War , the two largest bells had to be delivered again, so that only the casting from 1921 remained in the tower. After the Second World War, a new cast steel triple bell was cast at the Bochumer Verein . The largest bell strikes f sharp ', a diameter of 135 kg and a weight of 985 kg. The middle bell strikes a ', is 113 cm in diameter and weighs 615 kg. The small bell strikes h ', is 101 cm in diameter and weighs 420 kg. The old bronze bell initially remained in the church tower without any function and was transferred to the Serien cemetery in 1971.
