A previous building, the castle chapel , was probably in the 14th century. The Johannes chapel was located "by the castle". It was first mentioned in a document in 1424. It was parish off in 1756 from the mother church of Wiedenest .

The plastered barrel vaulted quarry stone hall was built at the end of the 17th century. The drafted choir closes on three sides . A lantern-crowned onion hood was placed on the west tower from 1749 . Remnants of the Gothic chapel are possibly preserved in the masonry of the choir. The exterior masonry was extensively renovated in 1983.

  • At the end of the 18th century, the pulpit , altar and organ were combined in a Bergisch structure.
  • The organ is dated 1779, it was built by JC Kleiner and received a new organ in 1970 from the Bonn company Klais.
  • A gallery led around on three sides
