railroad

In Wiedenest there used to be a train station on the Siegburg – Olpe line (Aggertalbahn). It was closed in 1973 and converted into a breakpoint, the station building was burned down in a controlled manner. Until 1979 there was still passenger traffic, until 1988 freight traffic. After a dam slide during construction work shortly after the breakpoint in 1988, the route was undermined, the tracks hung in the air for a while and were not repaired despite existing claims for damages. The railway line in the Dieringhausen - Olpe section is no longer passable today and continues to disappear.
