Belmicke is one of 22 districts of the city of Bergneustadt in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

Location and description

Belmicke is about 5.4 km east of Bergneustadt as the crow flies on the watershed between the Lenne / Ruhr and Agger / Sieg river systems . Due to its altitude, the church stands at approx. 435 m above sea level. NN and the mountain ranges around the place sometimes reach 480 m above sea level. NN, there are very good views over the upper Othe or the Dörspetal. When the view is clear, the view extends to the Siebengebirge and the Eifel . Belmicke is 10 minutes from Bergneustadt and the A 4 , and it is about 5 minutes to Drolshagen or the motorway access to the A 45 .

Waters

At the end of the village towards Bergneustadt, one of the two source brooks of the Othe rises, which flows into the Dörspe in Bergneustadt . Approx. The Belmicke, from which the place takes its name, rises 250 m east of the Schwedenkreuz. This brook, combined with the Attenbach (Attemicke), the Wörder Bach and the Kormicke near Feldmannshof, forms the Gipperbach. Its water flows over the Wormicke and the Rose into the Brachtpe , which feeds the Biggesee .

history

Today's Belmicke, located on the border between the Olpe and Oberbergisches Kreis districts, was created in the course of the regional reform in 1969 by merging the two towns of Bruchen (west of the Kirchberg) and Belmicke (east of the Kirchberg). Based on the research on place names in the area where the Franconian and Saxon settlers penetrated, it can be assumed that Belmicke belongs to the second layer of settlement and was therefore initially settled by Saxony between the 5th and 8th centuries .

The first written certificate results from the border location. In the minutes of a court hearing from 1533, the boundary between the Cologne court and parish Drolshagen and the Bergisch (!) Amt Neustadt is described. It runs through the hamlet of Lunerbruch (breaks). There was a barn in Cologne Abbey, but the house that went with it was in the Land of the Mark. The description of the processional path along the Neustadt border from 1545, which should help clarify the border issue, mentions both places.

In the "Fresendorffischen Receß" in 1561 an agreement was reached between the Elector of Cologne and the Duke of Cleve-Jülich-Berg on the border between the two lords. According to the description, the border runs right through Belmicke, but the house mentioned there is in Cologne. A boundary post is set in fractures. Which of the inhabitants of both places belonged to the parish Drolshagen or the parish Wiedenest can no longer be said. In the lists for the collection of Türkensteuer 1546 "Peter up the Broiche" is (fractures) but as a resident of the peasantry mentioned Wiedenest. Presumably, the inhabitants of Bruchten were assigned to the parish of Wiedenest and the then residents of Belmicke to the parish of Drolshagen. A later development in Belmicke was also in the Brandenburg area. On the Mercator map from 1557 one finally finds the name “Uff der Belmicke”.

The border situation became even more explosive when the Reformation was introduced in the parish of Wiedenest around 1643 . However, the inhabitants of the two hamlets remained with the Catholic denomination, as did the entire neighboring parish of Drolshagen. This resulted in a rapprochement with the parish of Drolshagen, although the inhabitants of the Brandenburg part continued to belong to the Wiedenest farmers and thus to the Neustadt district.

The farming communities Lieberhausen and Wiedenest, and thus fractures and part of Belmicke were with Neustadt with the introduction of the French municipal code in 1806 to Mairie combined. In 1818 this administrative unit was continued as a joint municipality. After the separation from Neustadt in 1892, these parts of today's Belmicke came to the mayor's office of Bergneustadt Land, which included Lieberhausen and Wiedenest. The two sub-communities were combined to form the Lieberhausen community in 1929. After the dissolution of the municipality of Lieberhausen as part of the municipal reform in 1969, both places came to the city of Bergneustadt. At the same time, the law on the reorganization of the district of Olpe changed the boundary between the Oberbergischer Kreis and the district of Olpe . The eastern part of Belmicke, which belonged to the former municipality of Drolshagen-Land , was added to the Oberbergischer Kreis. Fractions and Belmicke were combined to form the Belmicke district of the city of Bergneustadt. Since then, the whole place has been assigned to a single administrative unit for the first time.

Church institutions

The construction of the first church in Belmicke began in 1734 on the initiative of the pastor of Drolshagen. It was inaugurated in 1736. For religious reasons, however, it was only possible to build it in the Westphalian (Electoral Cologne) area. This was accompanied by the establishment of a priesthood. Since the church was very popular from the surrounding villages, it was renovated in 1839 and an extension was added.

In 1867 the archbishop of Cologne raised the church to a parish church. The new parish district essentially comprised the old farmers' communities of Lieberhausen and Wiedenest. Today's St. Anna Church was consecrated in 1892 . It was built on a mountain spur above the old location in Oberbergisches Land.

Due to immigration as a result of the Second World War and due to population growth, the number of Catholics increased sharply, especially in the Dörspetal. This development was taken into account with the construction of the Maria Königin Pernze-Wiedenest branch church in 1962. As a result of the adjustment of the parish boundaries to the new political borders in the course of the territorial reform in 1974, some places in the upper Aggertal were re-parish to the parishes of Gummersbach and Bergneustadt.

Today the parish of St. Anna Belmicke belongs to the parish community of Oberberg Mitte.

In addition to the Corpus Christi procession , which leads from Belmicke through the villages of Attenbach and Wörde , the sacrament procession on Annatag is of particular importance for the region. For historical denominational reasons, it only runs over the former Electoral Cologne area through the neighboring villages of Feldmannshof and Benolpe . In earlier days there was also a fair on Annatag. In addition, the parish makes a pilgrimage to the Marienkapelle Hünkesohl on the evening before Ascension Day and to Sendschotten for the Feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary . The Marian figure venerated there was brought from the church in Wiedenest to Sendschotten during the Reformation in order to protect it from the iconoclasm of the Reformation .

The youth home built in 1952 by the Heimatverein became the St. Anna home when it was transferred to the parish in 1973.

The church choir Cäcilia was founded in 1921 and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2011.

TuS Belmicke 1910 eV

The local football club is a division of TuS Belmicke 1910 eV, which has been active in the Olpe district under the name TuS Belmicke-Benolpe since its 100th anniversary year in the 2010-2011 season. Unfortunately, the senior team had to be canceled in the summer of 2015 because there were no longer enough players available for a football team in Belmicke - Benolpe. One of the main reasons is the lack of young athletes and the demographic change in recent years. In the old league over 32s you play with the neighboring club Bleche - Germinghausen and in the over 50s also with FC Schreibershof. Currently there is a ladies gymnastics group in the TuS with around 20 people who train every Tuesday in the Annaheim, an approx. 15-person hiking department and 5 dance groups with around 70 boys and girls, adolescents and young adults who perform at the annual TuS carnival events . TuS Belmicke was founded on January 15, 1910 by the then village school teacher Matthias Meier, together with Josef Fiege, Heinrich Hütte and Josef Gränke.

Schützenverein Hohe Belmicke 1921 eV

The Schützenverein Hohe Belmicke 1921 eV is a member of the Rheinischer Schützenbund eV 1872 and the Oberbergischer Schützenbund 1924 eV It was founded on April 23, 1921 and the first shooting festival was celebrated on August 22, 1922 in the Gasthof Hütte. Rudolf Schneider from Gipperich became the first marksman that year. The club flag was purchased in 1927 and consecrated on Sunday, July 3rd, 1927 by Mayor Stahmann. After an extensive restoration was necessary, the board decided to rededicate the flag. The new flag consecration was celebrated on January 15, 2011 by Pastor Udo Linke in the Sankt-Anna-Kirche . From 1951 to 1995 the Schützenfest is celebrated in the St. Anna-Heim, since then in the marquee on the cross-country ski trail parking lot. The bird shooting took place on the raised stand, which was built in 1974, until it was moved to the cross-country ski trail parking lot in 1997. Since 1980 there has also been a women's department in the club. The anniversary shooting festival for the 90th anniversary of the association was celebrated in 2011 from May 27th to 29th and Sunday ended with a big tattoo.

School system

Until 1968 the “Kath. Belmicke primary school “for 211 years. Adam Huperz was the first teacher. Lessons took place in 8 different buildings over the years. From 1839–1843 and later again from 1871–1875, lessons were held in the house of Wwe. Dobener, which later became Gasthaus Hütte. The second school was located in the former pastor's office, formerly Gasthaus Bieker from 1844–1850, from where in 1850 they moved to the former sexton's house, which was demolished in 1957. Then in 1871 Haus Wwe followed again. Dobener. School no. 5 was in house F. Hütte, across from Gasthof Hütte from 1875–1890. From 1890 the school was located in Attenbach in Haus Halbe, the current village tavern, for 2 years. For the next 72 years from 1893–1965, the elementary school was located directly below the Kirchberg. In 1965 a new building was built not far from the old school, which was closed after only 3 years of school operation due to the school reform of 1968. Today the building, which was formerly used as a community center by the Belmicker associations, is empty and the city of Bergneustadt is looking for a buyer.
