Evangelical Church Wickede
The Johannes Church is a listed church building at Wickeder Hellweg 80, in Dortmund - Wickede , a district of Dortmund in North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
The church was originally under the patronage of St. Johannes d. T. The late Romanesque hall church with two bays , a straight choir and a west tower was built in the second quarter or in the middle of the 13th century. A new, low tower spire was put on after 1773. The transverse gable of the nave and the choir gable were removed in 1803 for new hip roofs . The building was extensively renovated in 1961 and 1971.
architecture
The quarry stone walls of the outer building are grouted, the walls of the choir and the nave are structured by stepped buttresses . The southern portal is embedded in a stepped template . The windows are round or slightly ogival. To enrich the street-side front, the windows are framed by round bars with whorls . Inside the nave, domed vaults with ridges on top rest on cruciform pillars with round corner services. The choir is richly structured, the templates have ribs.
The ringing consists of three chilled cast iron bells, which sound in e ', g' and a '. Since 2013, two new bronze clock bells from Petit & Edelbrock have been hanging in the dormer on the east side of the tower .
There is a war memorial and a drinking fountain in front of the church .
