The Paul Gerhardt Church in Stanislausgasse

The Evangelical Paul-Gerhardt-Church is an Evangelical-Korean church in the 3rd district of Vienna Landstrasse on the corner of Schützengasse and Stanislausgasse.

The church was built in 1948 by the Evangelical Parish AB Wien-Landstrasse according to the plans of the architect Rudolf Eisler and named after the theologian and hymn poet Paul Gerhardt . After the construction of the Evangelical Pauluskirche on Sebastianplatz, the use of the Paul Gerhardt Church was given up in 1974. The altarpiece Christ and the Great Fish from 1944 by the painter Wilhelm Kaufmann from Salzburg, the brother of Pastor Kaufmann, was restored and transferred to the back wall of the new Evangelical Paulus Church in 1993.

In 1987 the Paul Gerhardt Church was given to the Presbyterian-Korean congregation for use. The church was renovated by the new user and purchased in 1992 with the old rectory.
