Evangelical parish church in Neckarsulm

The Evangelical parish church in Neckarsulm in the district of Heilbronn in northern Baden-Württemberg was built in the 19th century.

history

Due to its membership in the Teutonic Order , Neckarsulm was almost entirely Catholic until the early 19th century . It was only in the course of industrialization that numerous Protestant believers also settled. Evangelical services have been held in the chapel of the Teutonic Order House since 1850. The church for the evangelical community was consecrated on October 3, 1888. In 1891 the previous parish administrator was raised to an independent parish . The pastor initially lived on the first floor of the Protestant school house before the parsonage adjacent to the church was built in 1893.

On the night of June 30th to July 1st, 1897, a storm tore down the spire and part of the belfry of the church, and the rectory was also severely damaged by the storm. The Gustav-Adolf-Verein contributed to the reconstruction with generous donations.

description

The church was built from sandstone typical of the region in the neo-Gothic style and faces northeast. The slightly recessed tower on the south-western gable side serves in the base as the entrance and vestibule to the church, which is covered by a gable roof . The nave has transept-like dwelling houses on both sides in the north , which are crowned by triangular gables. To the northeast, the church has a recessed choir with a 5/8 end. The interior of the nave is spanned by a wooden ceiling that follows the shape of the roof. On the side of the tower a large gallery has been drawn in, on which the organ is located. The choir is spanned by a stone vault. The pulpit is to the left of the choir arch .
