Evelyn Schmidt (2007)

Evelyn Schmidt (born April 10, 1983 in Hoyerswerda ) from the Saxony wine region was the German Wine Queen 2007/08. She was elected the 59th German Wine Queen on October 12, 2007 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse as the successor to Katja Schweder . Before that, she was Saxon Wine Queen for a year . Marlies Dumbsky , who comes from the Franconian wine-growing region, was chosen as her successor in the office of German Wine Queen .

During her time as the German Wine Queen, the focus of her PR abroad was on Asian markets such as China, South Korea and Japan. But she also traveled to more exotic wine markets such as Dubai and Venezuela.

Unlike most of the other candidates, she does not come from a family that is involved in viticulture ; the daughter of a mechanic discovered her passion for wine while studying.

After attending the Dreikönigschule grammar school in Dresden from 1993 to 2001, she then studied tourism at the Zittau / Görlitz University of Applied Sciences until 2006 with a master’s degree. From 2007 she was employed at the Saxon State Winery Schloss Wackerbarth , where she was responsible for planning and coordinating guided tours and wine tastings.

After her term of office, she worked from January 2009 at the State Training and Research Institute for Wine and Fruit Growing Weinsberg and at the State Winery Weinsberg . There she was responsible for the areas of architecture, tourism and marketing in a project. At the beginning of 2013 she returned to Dresden for a new job.
