Tierp is a place ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Uppsala län and the historical province of Uppland . It is the capital of the municipality of the same name .

The place on Tämnarån is between Uppsala and Gävle on European route 4 , the section of which was inaugurated on October 17, 2007. The Upptåget railway line runs through the town.
