Everhard from Vechtorp

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Everhard von Vechtorp († September 1, 1391 ) was provost of the cathedral in the diocese of Münster .

Life

Everhard was first canon in Münster and also provost at the old cathedral. He took his oath as provost on July 24, 1353. On August 16, 1356, he was excommunicated and suspended for disobedience to Bishop Ludwig . Since Everhard opposed this decision, continued to collect income through his followers and also - contrary to the chapter statute - did not appoint a waiter to manage assets, the bishop ordered several pastors to treat these people as excommunicated . Not only Everhard, but also many other cathedral prods - such as Otto III. from Bentheim- carried out unjustified encroachments on property. As a result of this development, the cathedral chapter tightened the regulations in 1370, so that the importance of the cathedral provost was considerably reduced. Everhard kept his cathedral canon and was also active as pastor in Groenlo in the following years .
