The 21st Evrovizijska Melodija (EMA) (or EMA Evrovizija ) took place on February 16, 2019 and was the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv ( Israel ). The winner was the duet Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl with their self-written song Sebi .

format

concept

On November 9, 2018, RTV SLO announced that there would be changes to the format of the program again for 2019. In contrast to the previous year , there should be only one program with ten artists in 2019. A jury then selects two performers for the superfinal . Here only the televoting decides the winner.

Choice of contribution

From November 9, 2018 to December 14, 2018, contributions could be submitted to RTV SLO. Only Slovenian citizens were allowed to apply as interpreters. The composers, however, could also come from abroad. The language rule was also abolished, so that contributions could be submitted in different languages again in 2019.

On December 17, 2018, RTVSLO announced that they had received 103 entries.

Attendees

RTV SLO presented the ten participants to the public on December 28, 2018. Her songs have not yet been published.

Among the participants is the singer Raiven, who reached 2nd place in 2016 and also took part in the EMA in 2017. In 2018 she was the co-host of the show. Also worth mentioning is the singer Ula Ložar, who took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for Slovenia in 2014 .

final

The final of the EMA 2019 took place on February 16, 2019. The duet Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl and the singer Raiven reached the superfinals.
