Evrovizijska Melodija 2018 (EMA 2018) took place on February 24, 2018 and was the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon ( Portugal ).

As in previous years, the preliminary decision in 2018 will serve to select Slovenia's contribution to the ESC 2018. RTVSLO announced on December 3, 2017 that a total of 16 participants will take part in 2018. These first compete against each other in a semi-final. The best eight qualify for the final. In the semifinals, four finalists will be determined by televoting and four by jury voting. So there are eight participants in the final. In the final, 50% of the winner will be determined by televoting and 50% by a jury. Unlike 2017, however, there will be no regional jury, but a jury consisting of musicians, radio presenters and composers. The EMA 2018 winner will represent Slovenia at the ESC 2018.
Choice of contribution
Interested parties could submit their contributions from September 2017 to November 2017. However, there was a rule change, because for 2018 all contributions may either be in Slovenian or in a minority language of Slovenia. In the final, however, the contributions may also be presented in another language. On November 16, 2017, RTVSLO announced that 108 entries had been submitted. This represents an increase in contributions after receiving just 90 contributions in 2017. A three-person jury selected 16 entries that will compete at the EMA 2018.
Attendees
The 16 participants were officially presented by RTVSLO on December 8, 2017. Among them is ManuElla , who represented Slovenia in 2016 , and Tanja Ribič , who represented Slovenia in 1997 . Other returnees are BQL, Ina Shai, KiNG FOO, Lea Sirk, Nika Zorjan and Nuška Drašček, who all took part in the EMA 2017 .
Semifinals
The semi-finals took place on February 17, 2018. Eight participants qualified for the final. Four of them were determined by the televoting and four by the jury.
