Manuella Brečko (also ManuElla ; born January 31, 1989 in Celje , Yugoslavia ) is a Slovenian pop singer . She represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm , but did not make it into the final.

life and career

Manuella Brečko was born on January 31, 1989 in Celje . Since her father comes from Bregenz on Lake Constance , she learned the German language as a child . At the age of 16 she took part in the casting show Bitke talentov , in 2012 she reached the semi-finals of the top four of the Slovenian ESC preliminary decision Misija Evrovizija . She also took part in the castings of the German talent show Das Supertalent .

On January 5, 2016, she was presented as one of ten candidates in the Slovenian ESC selection EMA 2016 . She won the superfinal against the singer Raiven with her title Blue and Red and a very narrow lead of only 127 votes in televoting. As a result, she represented Slovenia in the second semifinals of the ESC 2016 on May 12th, but did not make it to the final.
