Musical career

Already at the age of 14 she made her first appearances with her rock band, but she finally became known through her participation in the talent show Slovenija ima talent in 2010, the Slovenian version of Das Supertalent . She reached second place there and was then invited to the preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). She won there with the rock ballad Vanilija and represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 . The piece was performed in English with the title No One (German: "Nobody"). On May 12, 2011 she interpreted the song in the second ESC semi-final in Düsseldorf , whereupon she made it into the final two days later. There she finished 13th with 96 points. The single rose to number 1 in the singles charts in Slovenia.

In December 2011 her debut album Indigo was released . The album became a blockbuster in Slovenia. The singles Zmorem and Free Love reached the top ten of the Slovenian charts , as did No One .

After a musical break, she released the new single Close to You in 2014 under the artist name Amaya , which rose to number 14 on the Slovenian download charts. The single was presented by her at the Slovenian preliminary decision for the ESC 2014 . In the same year, she sang in the background on the band's debut album Dirty Loops by her fiance, Jonah Nilson.

In 2015 she also sang the song End of Night , which was used in the Slovenian short film Kresnik - the Lore of Fire . It was published jointly with Reconceal . In 2016, Keuc traveled to South Korea, where she wanted to expand her career. Among other things, she composed the song U Need Me for the South Korean band Shinee , which was released on their studio album 5th and also reached the South Korean charts.

Actually, a return of the singer to the EMA (ESC preliminary decision) was planned in 2017, where she should compete in the 1st semifinals against artists like Omar Naber , Nika Zorjan and Tosca Beat . However, due to new projects in Sweden and South Korea, Keuc withdrew her participation from the preliminary round on January 24, 2017. She was replaced by Clemens. The release of their second studio album Fairytale , which was originally scheduled for September 2016, has also been postponed again.

On May 23, 2017, after more than a year of work, their EP Fairy Tales was released. The six songs were composed and produced by Keuc together with Orphee Noah . In the same year Keuc continued to work as a composer in South Korea . First she wrote the song Hello , the title track of the second EP by the South Korean K-Pop singer Shannon . In addition, she was involved in the song We like by the K-pop band Pristin, which was released on their EP Scxxl Out . The song reached number 94 on the South Korean singles chart. By September 2017, the single had sold more than 20,000 times.

On February 24, 2018, Keuc appeared again as a pause filler in the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with her new single "Concrete". She was also a member of the national jury. Afterwards she toured Slovenia with her program "A Tribute to Soul" .

Keuc contributed the title song "Naredi Srce" (Forme a Heart) to the Slovenian Coming of Age film " Gajin Svet " (Gaia's World) released on September 12, 2018 . For the video, different children were shown dancing to the music and shaping the sung heart with their hands. For this purpose, scenes from the film were cut. The film and the song were a great success and after "No one" Keuc was the first single to reach the top of the charts.

In 2012 Maja Keuc and Klemen Slakonja moderated the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , which Eva Boto won. In 2015 and 2016, Keuc took part in the Swedish Melodifestivalen as the points spokesperson for Slovenia . In 2015 she was seen again as the presenter of the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 . She was supported by Darja Svjager and Tinkara Kovac . During the final block of the call, she sang Euphoria by Loreen , the 2012 winning song .
