Danica Radojčić ( Cyrillic : Даница Радојчић; born May 27, 1989 in Belgrade ), better known by her stage name Nina (Нина) or NINA , is a Serbian singer. She represented her home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf .

biography

Danica Radojčić was born in 1989 in what was then Yugoslavia . She attended the Vatroslav Lisinski Music School in Belgrade from the age of six and was taught piano and singing. In parallel to the music school, Radojčić attended high school and finished school with distinction. She is currently studying pharmacy in Belgrade.

Radojčić made his first public appearances as a member of children's choirs and also successfully took part in singing competitions such as Zlatna sirena (German: "Golden Mermaid"). She won the FEDEMUS competition in singing and composition several times. From 2003 she gained further experience by participating in various regional music festivals such as in Rožaje , Banja Luka as well as the English Coventy Peace Month and the Bulgarian Srebrna Jantra Festival, which she won.

Radojčić was well known in her home country in 2011 when she took part in the Serbian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest ( Pesma za Evropu ). The Serbian singer and composer Kristina Kovač discovered her on the YouTube video portal and invited her to interpret her pop song Čaroban (German: "Magical"). In the final on February 26, 2011, Radojčić competed under the stage name Nina and won the televoting by a large margin over Kovač's sister Aleksandra , who performed the ballad Idemo dalje . Third place went to The Breeze , with Ring Ring Ring , a composition by Kovač's father Kornelije Kovač . With her victory, Radojčić represented Serbia at the 56th Eurovision Song Contest on May 10, 2011 in Düsseldorf in the first semi-final, where she made it into the final four days later. There they finished 14th in the victory of the Azerbaijani duo Ell and Nikki . In advance, Radojčić had also recorded an English version of the title ( Magical ).

On October 24th, 2011 Nina was a guest at Misija Evrovizija , the Slovenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 , where she performed her song Čaroban again and finally in a duet with Maja Keuc , I'm Outta Love by Anastacia , sang. She also performed her song Čaroban on February 19, 2012 in the Croatian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, the Dora .

Radojčić's favorite musicians include the British band Muse and the singer Duffy . Since February 2010 she has been the front woman of the pop band Sex Legal Department .
