Aminata Savadogo (born January 9, 1993 in Riga ), known as Aminata , is a Latvian singer and songwriter . She represented Latvia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna , Austria . She also wrote the Latvian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm , Sweden .

Early life and career beginnings

Aminata was born on January 9, 1993 in Riga, the daughter of a Latvian woman and a father from Burkina Faso . She is currently enrolled at the University of Latvia in Riga and is studying economics. When she was 15 she took part in the Latvian TV show Krodziņā pie Paula , and when she was 17 she also took part in Muzikālā banka . She was also involved in the Koru kari 3 choir competition with her Golden Choir .

Breakthrough and Eurovision Song Contest 2015

She received international attention by participating in Dziesma 2014 , the Latvian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 with the title I Can Breathe (German: I can breathe). She was able to qualify for the final and reached fifth place there. Then she applied to Jaunā talantu fabrika , the Latvian super talent and won. The following year she was part of Supernova 2015 , the new preliminary decision format of the Latvian broadcaster Latvijas Televīzija . She reached the final of the last four via the preliminary round and the semi-finals and won the show on February 22, 2015. After she successfully prevailed in the second semifinals, she represented Latvia with the self-composed title Love Injected (Eng .: Injected Love ) in the final of the ESC 2015 in Vienna and took 6th place. Aminata released her first studio album Inner Voice on April 8, 2015.

Aminata also wrote the song "Heartbeat" for the Latvian singer Justs Sirmais , who also competed in the Latvian preliminary round "Supernova" for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 on February 27 and won it.

Aminata will release her second studio album Red Moon in October 2016, but in late 2015 she released the single Bridges and in April 2016 the single Fighter .
