The Pirates of the Sea are a music group from Latvia . They represented their country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade , Serbia .

Band members

• The Italian singer Roberto Meloni who lives in Latvia. He is also part of the bonaparti.lv group that represented Latvia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki , Finland .

• The professional dancer Aleksandra Kurusova .

• The radio and TV star Jānis Vaišļa . He became famous for the TV show "Ekspedīcija" ( Expedition ). He died on January 9, 2016 at the age of 46 in Berlin . He should have had a heart transplant there , but died before the procedure.

Roberto Meloni and Aleksandra Kurusova became known through the TV show “Dejo ar zvaigzni” ( Dance with the Star ) and decided to found a group together with Jānis Vaišļa especially for the Eurovision. The idea of ​​participating in the national preliminary round came from Meloni, who contacted Vaišļa and Kurusova and invited them to join the group.
