Laura Rizzotto (born July 18, 1994 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian singer , songwriter and musician with Latvian roots.

Life

Rizzotto began playing the piano at the age of nine, followed by the guitar and ukulele as a teenager. When she was fifteen she was discovered by an employee of the Universal Music Group (Brazil) in a jazz club on Copacabana, who helped her to a record deal. In 2012 Laura Rizzotto moved to Boston to accept a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music . A year later she went to Los Angeles to study visual arts and music at the California Institute of the Arts . This was followed by a master's degree in music at New York's Colombia University, which Laura Rizzotto successfully completed in 2017.

In 2011 she released her debut album Made in Rio with Universal Music Group (Brazil) . In 2014 she independently released the album Reason to Stay .

In 2018 she won the Supernova festival with the title Funny Girl and represented Latvia in May 2018 at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon . However, she was unable to qualify for the final.
