Eternal table of Major League Soccer
The Eternal Table of Major League Soccer is a statistical listing of all championship games of Major League Soccer since it was founded in 1993 (or the start of operations in 1996). The calculation is based on the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table only includes games in the "Regular Seasons" (not the playoffs) of the completed seasons.
Clubs in bold are playing in Major League Soccer in the 2016 season .
Between 1996 and 1999, games that ended in a draw were followed by a so-called “shootout”, a modification of the penalty shoot-out. A player started 35 meters in front of the goal and had to try to overcome the goalkeeper in a 1 on 1 similar to ice hockey . The winning team received one point for the game, the loser none. The shootout was abolished for the 2000 season.
