The Extra 330 are one or two-seat versions of the Extra 300 aerobatic plane in a low-wing configuration from the German manufacturer Extra Aircraft .

History and construction

The Extra 330LX, built from 2013 onwards, was certified for “Unlimited Aerobatics” and flown from 2014 to the 2017 season by all pilots in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship in the Challenger Cup. Airfoils and many other components are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The steel framework hull has a steerable tail wheel.

  • Extra 330LX / Extra 330LP - two-seater aerobatic plane (seats in tandem)
  • Extra 330LT - two-seater touring aircraft with full aerobatics, EFIS cockpit
  • Extra 330LE - electrified variant with 260 kW motor from Siemens and two battery packs with 18.6 kWh capacity each from Pipistrel .

Aviation accidents

In 2015, an Extra 330 SC crashed shortly after take-off at Schwenningen airfield. The pilot died.
