Eyal Ben-Reuven ( Hebrew אייל בן ראובן, * May 22, 1954 in Netzer Sereni ) is an Israeli former major general ( Aluf ) and politician of the Ha-Tnu'a .

Life

Ben-Reuven served in the Israel Defense Forces and rose to the rank of general within the military. He took part in the Yom Kippur War as a soldier . In the 1982 Lebanon War , he commanded an army battalion . While in the military, he attended Command and Staff College in Israel and later studied at the United States Army War College in Pennsylvania and political science at Haifa University . During the 2006 Lebanon War , he was Deputy Commander of the Israeli Northern Command . Ben-Reuven became a member of the Meretz party . After serving in the Israeli army , he became director of the Born to Freedom Foundation . In 2014 he moved from the Meretz party to the Ha-Tnu'a party. Ben-Reuven has been a member of the Knesset for the Zionist Union since 2015 .
