The bonnet is set up during play, fear and aggression. The chest, stomach and neck are also covered by red feathers with blue borders. The forehead and crown are creamy white, the back, wings and sides are green. The underside of the tail and the tips of the wings are brown-black. The iris is yellow, the beak black-gray, the legs gray. Young birds lack the white parting. In addition, their underside is lighter, the iris is gray-brown and the lower beak is lighter. Fan parrots reach a length of 33 cm and a weight of 190 to 280 g.
