particularities Bronze Age settlement finds

The Föllik (also: Föllig ) is a solitary elevation southwest of Eisenstadt in the area of the market town of Großhöflein in the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district in Burgenland .

Traces of a hilltop settlement of the Wieselburg culture were found on the approximately 250 × 180 meter plateau, which slopes gently to the south . A former hunting lodge of the Esterházy family , currently in decline , built at the end of the 18th century, can be found on the heights of the Föllik. The calcareous black earth with a high clay content on the Föllik ensures that the Zweigelt grape variety thrives, especially on the eastern and south-eastern slopes of the mountain .
